Throttle cables install

I've read all the threads I can find here on installing the after market cables where 1 size supposedly works for the open and close.  I didn't have any problem getting them threaded into the handle bar assembly.  My issue is I could barely get them attached at the carb (not enough slack).  I've got the adjusters at the handle bars all the way in.  When they are installed they are so tight I can barely get the throttle to open.  If I take off the close cable at the carb, everything works fine.  Throttle opes and springs back like it should. Can anyone tell from these photos if I have something terribly wrong?

I don’t see anything that looks out of the ordinary.

Do you still have “tall” bars?  What were the P/N and from where did you get the cables?  Maybe you got Z1R cables which are shorter due to lower factory bars…

They are from parts giant. I might see my error.  They have a pull and push selection but I ordered 2 push. Somehow I was thinking folks said they are the same but maybe they aren’t.  And the part number doesn’t change as you switch between them
